Asphalt Maintenance Job – Food Lion at 62nd Avenue

By Sarah Jeffcoat

In the Fall of 2013, our asphalt maintenance team repaved the parking lot of the Food Lion on 62nd Avenue in Myrtle Beach. This Food Lion sees a ton of tourist traffic in the summer, and local traffic year round, so as you can imagine the parking lot needs work from time to time. The job only took a few days and our team worked on sections of the lot at a time so as to not inconvenience Food Lion’s customers.

Take a look at a few of our before and after shots of the job. What a difference a new black top makes for a business’s appearance!

Road Construction – Highway 501 Widening

By Sarah Jeffcoat

Palmetto Corp’s crews started road construction on the widening of Highway 501 in October and everything is progressing smoothly.  The project will add a third lane to a 2.1 mile stretch of the northbound lanes of Highway 501 from Tanger outlets to Garner Lacey Roadd. Much of the construction to date has not interrupted traffic flow, as our crews have been laying pipe and grading in preparation for the new lane, which all takes place on the shoulder of the road. When we do need to encroach on the existing road, we wait until night time to perform that work.

Take a look at some of the photos from the early stages of the project, including some great aerial shots. Check back often for more photo updates!

Commercial Building – Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center

In early 2013, our commercial building division completed construction on the Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center, a 30,000 square feet recreation facility with three basketball courts, a cardio/aerobics room, a weight room, office space, a warming kitchen, and a program space for meetings. The project was funded by the Georgetown County’s Capital Improvement Plan and cost $4.4 million.

Our team managed every aspect from start to finish, from clearing the land to painting the walls and paving the parking lot. Take a look at some of the finished photos below, and visit our Facebook page for our progress photos.
